Ici and his trips to France and Germany...
September 1. => 9. - 2010

Under construction...

Homps by Canal du Midi at Auberge de l'Arbousier...

Our first visit to a foreign country, was going by car and train to Homps by the Canal du Midi in Southern France...
- our companions in the Toyota Yaris were: My mother, her friend Jytte, and her dog Coco...
Coco is a not-so-young, gorgeous little Madagascar Cotton dog with a highly developed personality...
At first she was really quite reserved, but soon they became very good friends...

Waiting for the ferry
between
Denmark and Germany...

Stopover in Germany at a hotel 15 miles
north of Hamburg, from where we had
an 'autotrain' reservation...

Onboard the train from Hamburg to Narbonne...the dogs are being pampered...
- the trainride itself was a disaster - x-treme
delays, and 'throwing' all off the train 200
kilometers before our destination, and
we never received a compensation from
Wagon-Lits...The guilty part was, of course
SNCF and their lack of organization...
We sat there as hostages all night!
Luckily we didn't get more of 'France when
it is bad'...

We reached the village of Hombs and the wonderful Auberge de l'Arbousier...

Ici enjoying the facilities of the
Canal du Midi...it was truly very
beautiful!

Our daytrip to Garcasonne...the 2-legged
are having Kirr Royal drinks, and the
4-legged are having 'red sticks', being a
dog snack that Jytte introduced, and now
something we always have in the
dogsnackstock...

Last day, getting ready for departure...
Everything packed...it's amazing what
a Toyota Yaris can hold...We are on our
way back to Denmark...

Back on Roesnaes...East-West, HOME is best! - ZZZZZZZ!

Ici and I agreed on driving in my car to Berlin, and celebrate Gerhard Vohwinkel's 79th. birthday...
In spite of my physical condition, a painful Hernia Inguinalis (lyskebrok), we had a great time, Ici and I....

We had a stopover app. halfways to Berlin.
After many search sessions on the web,
I found an inexpensive highway motel,
right on our planned route...it was very
inexpensive, and I didn't expect too much...
but we found ourselves in a nice and clean
room with a balcony, friendly staff, and
next to a cute old style German village -
Land-gut-Hotel Rasthaus Schackendorf,
we'll be back April 2011 on our way to
Gerhard's 80th. birthday in Berlin...

Ici in Gisela and Gerhard's garden in
Zehlendorf...Ici managed the language
well and said 'guten tag' to the Berlin
dogs on the trees in the neighborhood...

Family, friends and Ici celebrating Gerhard's birthday...
